Wonderful WINGS in Algester
After having previously worked with our Commercial Interior Design team for furniture procurement for the staff zones at their WINGS Manly centre, WINGS Algester wanted the BLOK Design touch for not only the furniture procurement for their staff zones again but also for their reception spaces. We also completed the design customisations for seating and soft furnishings in the children's play zones.
The Project
As a well known childcare centre, WINGS has created a brand aesthetic which required careful consideration when completing our overall design. We focused on the calming colour palette of neutrals, greens and pinks and aligned the furniture and finishes selection with that of the Manly centre. Both the Manly & Algester centres are flooded with natural light and present a true QLD experience with a blend between indoors and outdoors. Our overall design ensured we continued this brand essence by incorporating oaks, linens, warmth, live foliage, and custom bench seating and children’s floor cushions that are not only functional and commercial grade but also match the colour palette of the space.
The Design
After working together on the first WINGS project in Manly, our client trusted we would deliver a similar solution for Algester.
The quality of products was important due to the high-use zones required in a childcare centre. Our client also wanted to ensure that their staff had beautiful areas to recharge in and feel comfortable.
The Features
We collaborated with the team to create;

Custom bench seating, curtains and potted plants for reception;

Finishes for the staff zones, including managers offices and lunchrooms;

Children’s sleep zones and floor cushions for play areas.

Our aim was to create an intentional space that was inviting, friendly and warm. We chose pieces that complemented the indoor and outdoor design of the centre and a peaceful palette of colours that worked in harmony to encourage a calming yet playful environment for the children and staff.
